Claire Saunders Keynote - Changing the conversation: Putting learning at the heart of curriculum design

Summary: In 2017, Solent’s Learning and Teaching institute was asked to play a leading role in the university’s curriculum transformation programme. Tasked with devising a curriculum framework that captured the distinctive features of our modern, applied university, we were determined to engage the whole university community in the conversation about what our curriculum might look like. But an institution-wide consultative process involving research is not for the faint-hearted. This keynote will explore some of the fundamental shifts in thinking that underpinned our framework, and some of the many lessons we learned along the way. It will emphasise the vital role of genuine dialogue in any such process and take an honest look at some of the toughest challenges we faced.
