Fee Waivers
With the support of the Commission for Tertiary Education and Research (Medr), we are offering a fee waiver scheme (subject to availability) to support part-time undergraduate students who would not otherwise have access to higher education. Eligible students will have their course fees paid by Medr.
To be eligible for a fee waiver you:
- must not study more than 20 credits in this academic year
- must be living in Wales, classed as a ‘Home’ student
- must meet one of the following conditions:
A. You or your immediate family 1 is in receipt of:
- Universal Credit or its predecessors 2
- Jobseeker’s Allowance
- Employment and Support Allowance
OR
B. You are in receipt of:
- Carers Allowance or Carers Credit
- Disability related benefit
- Bereavement Benefit 3
OR
C. You meet one of the following criteria:
- Students from an area of socio-economic deprivation
- Students from an area of low participation in higher education
- Care leavers or care experienced students
- Students with disabilities
- Students from ethnic minority backgrounds
- LGBTQ+ students
- Students who are refugees or asylum seekers
- Students with caring responsibilities
- Those studying through the medium of Welsh
Please complete the application form and return it (with supporting evidence if applicable) to tuitionfees@cardiffmet.ac.uk – title the email as ‘F W APP’ with the Cardiff Met Student ID – e.g., F W APP 20999999.
- For the purpose of the criterion the definition of ‘family’ is as follows: married, civil partnership or unmarried couple, or married or unmarried couple, or couple in a civil partnership with dependent children, or lone parent with dependent children.
- Housing benefit, Income support, Income-based Jobseekers Allowance, Income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Child Tax Credit, Working Tax Credit, where these still apply.
