Enrolment Process

The enrolment process is what confirms you as an official student.

As a new Home (UK) student, when your place is confirmed and you have met all the other non-academic conditions of your offer such as DBS if applicable to your course, you will be sent an email with instructions of how to enrol to the personal email address given on your current application, with a link to our online enrolment facility. You will be given your student account details within this email, to use to log in and complete your enrolment.

Please note: You will not be able to enrol and should not attempt to do so until you have received your email from Admissions.

For guidance on the enrolment process and a walk through guide as a new student please refer to our guide.

As an existing student, for guidance on the enrolment process and a walk through guide please refer to our guide.

Please ensure that you continue to the end of all the screens within the enrolment system to fully complete the process. On the final page of the process, please click the Continue button in the bottom right of the screen to confirm your enrolled status. This will take you through to our After you have Enrolled page where you will find useful information and what to expect next.

If you are an International new student (from outside the UK), please refer to the Enrolment Advice here.

For programmes with a start date in January, April or July, please wait until you have received an email to confirm you are able to enrol nearer to your particular start date.

New Students

As a new applicant, you will have been sent an email informing you that you are ready to enrol online once your place has been confirmed and you have met all conditions of your offer. You will be given details of your student account log in details within your enrolment notification email and directed to our online enrolment facility to complete your enrolment.

If you have applied for one of our programmes (usually Part-time, Postgraduate or Research), starting January, April or July, you will receive this email nearer to your particular start date.

If you have not received the enrolment email, there could be a number of reasons for this:

  • You are starting a programme that requires an Enhanced DBS check which has not yet been completed online
  • You are starting a programme that requires an Occupational Health check for which Admissions have not received acknowledgement of completion
  • You have not sent in your qualifications as requested by Admissions
  • Your email has been sent to an old account which you no longer use; or may be sat in your Junk folder

If you fall into any of the above, please contact Admissions who can advise you further.

If you are a previous Cardiff Met student, you will already have a student account and will need to use your previous login details. If you just need to reset your password, please click here.

Existing students progressing from Foundation into Year 1

If you are a student going from Foundation into Year 1 of your relevant degree, you should have already received, completed and returned a Declaration of Intent to Progress Form to our Enrolment team or your relevant School. On this form you would have specified the degree you intend to progress onto. Once the exam boards have confirmed you are eligible to progress, you will be sent Terms and Conditions to sign and return as final confirmation of your chosen degree progression. Following this you will be automatically enrolled onto your chosen degree by the Enrolment team.

Exception – if you started the Foundation leading to BSc Health Sciences with an agreement to progress into one of the listed degree programmes below, your offer will have been processed via your UCAS application received in the current academic year with your conditions detailed on UCAS Track. Progression is conditional on your Exam Board Final Marks on first attempt and the agreement of the Programme Director.

  • BSc (Hons) Dental Technology
  • BSc (Hons) Healthcare Science
  • BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and Dietetics
  • BSc (Hons) Podiatry

You will need to read your degree Induction Information and make a note of your induction week events which are compulsory events for your new course. You will also need to get a new MetCard to make sure you are given the correct access across the campus for rooms and facilities.

Please also access our Programme Specification Library by logging in as an existing student with your Student ID, Surname and Date of Birth.

Once you have been enrolled, you should be able to access your student portal using your original login details. If you have forgotten, or need to change, your Cardiff Met password you can use this link – Password Reset.

Existing students progressing into next level of study – Degree and Postgraduate

The earliest date the notification to re-enrol will be sent out to those students who are eligible to progress will be early July, shortly after exam board results are released. This usually falls in the first week.

If you are either a full-time or part-time student returning to Cardiff Metropolitan University you will be able to enrol via the Re-enrolment Icon on the Student Homepage once you have received your notification to re-enrol.

Retrieving Students (those required to re-submit coursework or re-sit assessments) will be able to self-enrol using previous login details on successful completion of outstanding assessment. You will receive an email to both your Cardiff Met email and your personal email address following the retrieval exam boards in September; you will usually receive the email a few days after the exam boards, and usually during the last two weeks of September.

Please note: It will not be possible for you to enrol before you receive this information. If you have not received an email regarding your enrolment by the end of September, please click on the Enrolment Help Link and complete the form so that we can advise on your status to re-enrol.
