Cardiff Met Represented in England and Wales Women's Six Nations Training Squads

Cardiff Metropolitan University continues to make its mark on women’s rugby, with strong representation in the England and Wales Women’s Six Nations training squads.

Among the selected players are current Cardiff Met students Maisie Davies, Molly Reardon, Rosie Carr, Robyn Davies, Lucy Isaac, Seren Singleton and Savannah Picton Powell, showcasing the University’s ongoing commitment to developing elite talent.

The squads also features several Cardiff Met alumni, including; Abbey Constable, Carys Phillips, Gwen Crabb, Ffion Lewis, Jade Sheckells, Lleucu George, Carys Cox, Catherine Richards, and Jasmine Joyce Butchers and Tatyana Heard. Alex Callender, who was also selected, previously studied at Cardiff Met.

Cardiff Met Women’s Rugby Head Coach, Lisa Newton said: “We are incredibly proud of our players who have been selected for the England and Wales Women’s Six Nations training squads. It’s a testament to the hard work, dedication and talent that thrives within our programme.

“At Cardiff Met, we’re not just proud to be a WRU Women’s Player Development Centre, but we’re also deeply committed to nurturing elite athletes from across the UK who go on to excel at the highest levels of rugby.”

Cardiff Met is proud to be one of the three Welsh Rugby Union’s Player Development Centres (PDCs), dedicated to supporting the development of high-potential female players across Wales and helping them achieve their ambitions to become elite rugby players.

The programme enables female rugby players access to a high-performance development environment, inspiring them to play for Wales at the test level.

The PDC is jointly funded by the WRU and surrounding partners, and is committed to advancing the women’s rugby game by delivering local, high-quality training and coaching programmes for high-potential, pre-elite female players. The PDC is a critical stepping stone for female rugby players aiming to achieve international honours and represent Wales.
