Why choose University? Why choose Cardiff Met
Researching your course options
You might already know exactly which course you want to study with us, or you might know that you want to study at Cardiff Met but aren't sure in which area. There are hundreds of options to consider so just take your time and research all the options available.
UCAS have a
great selection of tools on their website for you to use and research your options.
At Cardiff Met, one of the best options for you, is to attend one of our
campus Open Days. These days give you an insight into life as a Cardiff Met student, a chance to chat to current students and meet the academic team of the course you are interested in.

You can also narrow down your search by using our
Course Finder.
Applying through UCAS
Once you have decided to apply, you need to
make your application online via UCAS. There are sections to complete including your personal details, your university choices (including Cardiff Met!) and courses, and your Personal Statement. The personal statement section of your application will take the most time and is the most important so do multiple drafts and ask different people to read over it for you. You should think about why you want to study the course you have chosen, what ambitions you have after completing the course, what extra-curricular activities you have been involved in, any employment skills you have picked up and any other interesting details that relate to the course. The statement's purpose is to give an overall picture of who you are and why you want to study the course so take your time on it.
We have a Student Recruitment team that may have already visited your school/college for a personal statement workshop but otherwise, you can view some tips from them here. UCAS also provide some
useful guides on constructing your personal statement.
Once you have applied, your details will be sent to your university choices and we will then communicate with you mostly via email. Make sure the email address on your UCAS application is not your school email address as this won't be active after you have finished and as a personal email address, make sure it is an appropriate username.
