Accommodation - How do I apply?
In order to apply for halls, you will need your Cardiff Met Student ID or UCAS ID Number.
If you wish to receive Private Sector Information, please contact the Accommodation Services directly at accomm@cardiffmet.ac.uk
Halls Applications go live, online from the 1st of April each year. Please check this page for the ‘Apply Here’ icon to make your application.
Step 1: You will need your Cardiff Met student ID or UCAS ID number to register your interest.
Step 2: Once you register, you will receive an email with your unique password which will allow you to make your halls application.
Please ensure that you add our email accomm@cardiffmet.ac.uk and accomoffers@cardiffmet.ac.uk as a ‘safe sender’. This will stop emails heading to your 'Junk' mail. This is particularly important if you use Gmail address.
We recommend you do not use Gmail email address. Please use a personal email address, not a school one as you may not be able to access it after you have left.
Step 3: Access your application with your password, complete the relevant sections and submit.
Once you have completed your online application it will be sent automatically to the Accommodation Office. You will receive an acknowledgement e-mail which you should keep as it is proof of your application. This email will list your preferences and what happens next with your application. If you have not received an acknowledgement e-mail within 2 days, please contact the Accommodation Office directly at accomm@cardiffmet.ac.uk.
Priority for a room in Halls
Priority for a room in Halls of Residence is given to first year students. When allocating rooms, we take into consideration the date the online Application for Halls was received, availability of accommodation and the eligibility criteria below.
Welsh speakers will be able to inform us if they prefer to live with fellow Welsh speakers. Depending upon demand we will endeavour to meet that preference.
We will guarantee you a place in University-approved accommodation if you're applying to be a full-time student at Cardiff Met for the first time.
To meet the criteria for guaranteed accommodation, you also need to:
- have never been a full-time student at Cardiff Met in the past
- have accepted an offer of a place at Cardiff Met and made us your first choice through UCAS
- submit your online halls application for accommodation to us no later than 31st May
- need the accommodation for the full letting period as a single occupant
- accept our offer of accommodation, and pay your holding deposit to us, within three days of us issuing the offer
- ensure we have existing suitable accommodation to meet your needs
While we aim to meet your preferences, we cannot guarantee them. Some locations and room types are in higher demand than others, therefore we recommend you familiarise yourself with all the options available.
Unfortunately, due to the limited number of Halls available, we are not able to accept applications from returning students (including those who have previously completed a foundation year) unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Postgraduate students should be aware that Halls are primarily occupied by first year students and that Halls may not be conducive to a Postgraduate workload. We do not have dedicated Postgraduate Halls.
What happens next?
Applicants holding Unconditional Firm offers who have applied before 31st May will hear before the end of July regarding their offer.
Applicants holding Conditional Firm offers will hear following the 'A Level' results, providing you become Unconditional Firm for Cardiff Met. We cannot make you an offer of accommodation until you become Unconditional Firm on the UCAS system for a Cardiff Met course.
