Dr Nick Young
Senior Lecturer in Primary Education Studies
Cardiff School of Education & Social Policy
Overview
I am a lecturer in Primary Education Studies who is passionate about using relevant technology to enhance learning within education. Having gained a varied experience across the education sector working as a Primary School teacher in South Korea, Spain and most recently in Wales.
My career started on a very different path to Education by obtaining a Degree in Journalism. This along with valuable skills learnt whilst traveling have contributed to my teaching career.
As my experience grew as did my passion for using technology within the classroom. I have been fortunate within my career to lead research projects within areas I have a real interest such as sport, International collaboration and technology within Education.
My teaching within Higher Education began in 2015 on a seconded post teaching on the BA Primary Education with QTS degree. On this programme I led the teaching of ICT, Maths and Geography and I was able to lead research into developing digital skills in both Primary and Secondary Sectors. During this secondment my enthusiasm grew to help develop others who were looking to enter the education sector.
