Overview

Dr Louise Allen-Walker is a senior lecturer in Psychology and Education in Cardiff School of Education and Social Policy. Prior to joining the team in 2017 she completed a BPS accredited BSc in Psychology at Swansea University, graduating in 2012, and her MSc in Psychological Research at Bangor University in 2013. Louise completed her PhD in 2017, which examined the role of the cerebellum in language using brain stimulation. She began lecturing alongside her PhD at Bangor University in 2015 and attained fellowship of the higher education academy at this time. In this post she focussed predominantly on teaching research methods.

Since joining the team at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Louise has been teaching on the BA (Hons) Education, Psychology and Special Educational Needs and the MSc Psychology in Education programmes, where she teaches her specialisms, quantitative research methods, cognitive psychology and neuroscience, and their application to education. Additionally, Louise is the Programme Director for the BPS accredited MSc Psychology in Education conversion programme. She is also a Chartered Psychologist. Louise's research interests focus on the integration of psychology theory into teaching pedagogy and practice.
