Overview
Dr Katherine Fitzgerald is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health Care Professionals Council and a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. She has a special interest in working in clinical health settings to support patients, families, and staff in managing life-changing health conditions, diagnoses and treatments. In addition to working at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Dr Fitzgerald works as a highly specialised practitioner psychologist in the NHS, for the South-East Wales Vascular Network. Prior to this, Dr Fitzgerald has worked as a clinical psychologist in a variety of health settings, which include cancer services, covid recovery, renal services, and complex rehabilitation. Research interests include trauma-informed care in physical health settings; EMDR in physical health settings; mindfulness/movement/yoga-based interventions for resilience and recovery in health and community settings, and health-care staff wellbeing.
