Overview

Heather studied for her undergraduate degree, masters degree, and PhD at the University of Kent in Canterbury, specialising in Social & Applied Psychology. Her PhD thesis focused on the moral emotions of anger and disgust and their interaction with controversial music types. Heather joined Cardiff Met in 2020, spending two years as a Lecturer in Psychology before taking up her current role as a Lecturer in Research Methods in August 2022. She is also a Fellow in the Higher Education Academy.

Heather’s research interests are in the general areas of identity, emotion, morality and the media, and how these concepts interact with each other. Her current research focuses on the elicitation and consequences of the moral emotions in response to controversial media and identity negotiation in the context of preferred music types.
