Overview

Dr Heggs is a Chartered Psychologist with the British Psychological Society, and is Principal Lecturer in Psychology. In 2009 Dr Heggs won the outstanding contribution award for the UWIC Staff Awards for Excellence. Dan contributes to the innovation and maintenance of standards in HE through his contribution to validating new programmes at Cardiff Met and his role as an external examiner at UWE.

Dan moved to south Wales in 1998, and started to work in Higher Education at the University of Glamorgan, before he moved to Cardiff Metropolitan University. Dan has taught extensively at all levels of undergraduate and postgraduate provision, specializing in areas of critical social psychology and qualitative research methods. Dan’s academic and research interests lie around areas of gender, risk psychology, education and identity. Dan has supervised postgraduate research in gender and class, and is currently involved in the supervision of research on young fathers and short-term offenders and employment.
