Overview
Dallas studied sculpture at the Royal College of Art from 1999-2001 and lectured in sculpture and bronze casting in Chelsea, London, Bristol, and Cardiff. He joined Cardiff School of Art and Design in 2006 working for the fine art sculpture department teaching students how to cast bronze. As a practicing artist, he’s had numerous exhibitions and shows throughout the UK and abroad including Venice, Norway, USA, Canada, and Japan. Dallas was shortlisted for the Jerwood sculpture prize in 2007 and in 2010 helped set up an artist’s collective that was shortlisted to represent Wales at the 54th Venice Biennale. Dallas joined the RWA in 2016 as a network artist and was elected as an Academician and council member of the RWA in 2018. In this year he was also selected as a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors. In 2020 Dallas joined the Board of Trustees at the RWA. He now lives in South Gloucestershire and works from his studio in Bristol.
His own practice explores the nature of objects and how science, science fiction and art can become a collaboration of common interest that can reveal complementary perspectives on the questions of nature, space, time, and entropy.
