Cardiff School of Technologies

Overview

I am Head of Department for Applied Computing and Engineering in Cardiff School of Technologies, where I support a team of academics who research and teach in a range of disciplines from Electronics Engineering and Robotics to Human-Computer Interaction and Information Systems. As a Principal Lecturer in Software Engineering, I also contribute to the teaching in Programming, Mobile App Development and Team Project Development. My career in Higher and Further Education has afforded me the opportunity to work with diverse cohorts of learners, having taught computing-based subjects, astronomy and basic skills on campus and out in the community. Prior to entering education, I worked as a software engineer and consultant both in the UK and abroad. My focus was on requirements analysis, user-interface design and programming. This gave me the opportunity to forge and maintain relations with a wide range of partners in industries such as pharmaceuticals, car manufacturing and maritime shipping, as well as the public sector and local authority government.
