Overview

Cameron graduated with a First-Class Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering (MEng) from Cardiff University in 2002. He completed a PGCE in Secondary Mathematics at UWIC (now Cardiff Metropolitan University) in 2003 and went on to teach mathematics for 14 years across three secondary schools in South Wales. Throughout his teaching career, he held several successful leadership positions before joining the Central South Consortium (CSCJES) school improvement service in 2017 as a Mathematics Subject Specialist. He later progressed to the role of Strategic Advisor for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. In 2008, Cameron completed his Master’s degree.

Following his appointment as a Senior Lecturer on the PGCE Secondary, PGCE Primary, and BA Primary Education (with QTS) programmes at the Cardiff School of Education and Social Policy, Cameron was named Programme Leader for PGCE Secondary Mathematics in 2020. In 2021, he assumed the role of ITE Lead for Communication, Recruitment, and Retention within the ITE Leadership and Management team. His leadership contributions were further recognised in 2023 when he was appointed as Director of Initial Teacher Education (Student Engagement) for The Cardiff Partnership for ITE. In 2021, he was honoured as the Cardiff School of Education and Social Policy 'School Lecturer of the Year'.

Cameron played a pivotal role in leading The Cardiff Partnership for ITE through a successful Estyn inspection in 2022, as well as securing the re-accreditation of all its ITE programmes with the Education Workforce Council (EWC) in 2024.

Beyond leadership, Cameron is deeply invested in the teaching and learning of mathematics, mentor development, and teacher recruitment. He has contributed to numerous funded projects in collaboration with Welsh Government, Educators Wales, and regional consortia within these fields. As an experienced advocate for education, he has represented Cardiff Metropolitan University at both national and international levels. Currently, he is undertaking a professional doctorate at Cardiff Metropolitan University.

In addition to his work in education and mathematics, Cameron is a passionate performing musician, vocalist, and audio producer, contributing to radio, television, and live productions.
