Welcome to Cardiff Metropolitan University’s dedicated page for the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympic Games.

Here, we will celebrate the world-class athletes and sports professionals who have been nurtured at Cardiff Met – those who have previously graced the Olympic stage and those ready to make their mark in Paris.

We’ll be keeping you updated as teams and individuals are selected and, when the Games get underway, we’ll be sharing stories about the students, staff and alumni who are playing their part on this global sporting stage.

A Legacy of Excellence: Cardiff Met’s Olympic Heritage

Cardiff Met has a proud tradition of developing Olympic and Paralympic talent. Our alumni include notable names such as:

Lynn Davies – Lynn graduated from Cardiff Training College the same year he won a gold medal in the Long Jump at the Tokyo 1964 Games.

Aled Siôn Davies OBE – Three-time gold medalist in Discus and Shot Putt at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Paralympics who studied Sports Management at the University.

Helen Glover MBE – Two-time Olympic GB gold medalist in Rowing who studied Sport & Exercise Science at Cardiff Met.

Dan Bibby – Former Cardiff Met RFC player and Sport & Exercise Science student who came to the University in 2009, and GB’s Rugby 7’s silver medalist in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
