Staff Overview

​​Ganiyu Otukogbe is a lecturer in project management at Cardiff Metropolitan University (CMU). He teaches modules on project management theory and practice, project data analytics, project commercial management, strategic project management, risk management, and research methodology. He has taught at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He has taught modules on construction project management, project controls and information technology, business research methodology, and risk management at the undergraduate level. He has been part of UK government-funded multi-million-pound projects.

Before joining CMU, he was a research associate at the University of the West of England (UWE) where he is currently completing a PhD in Digital Construction with Augmented Reality, and a lecturer in construction management at the Global Banking School (GBS). He has consulted with other UK universities as an academic external panel member, part-time lecturer, and thesis supervisor. He has a PGCE in Lifelong Learning, an MA in Education and Youth Studies from the University of Huddersfield, and an MBA from CMU. He completed is undergraduate degree in Estate Management from Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria. 

He is an active member of the British Educational Research Association. In my previous roles before joining academia, he was a project manager in the Nigerian real estate industry for a decade. His research interests are Project Data Analytics, Emerging Technologies (i.e., AR/VR, AI, & IoT) in Project Management, Project Management Education, and Digital Construction. His pedagogical approach to teaching and learning is collaborative (cooperative) learning.

Research

​I have multi-disciplinary research experience that involves the fields of construction, software engineering, and education. In addition, I have participated in interdisciplinary research that involves real estate, circular economy, property technology, built environment, immersive technologies, building information modelling (BIM), artificial intelligence, and emerging state-of-the-art technologies.

My primary research interests are in project data analytics, emerging technologies (i.e., AR/VR, AI, and IoT) in project management, project management education, and digital construction. 

I am currently conducting independent research on project management education and the use of emerging technologies in project management.
