Cardiff Metropolitan's Global Student Advisory Service will provide a international student induction programme before the start date of your course. The induction programme has been designed to provide you with the essential information that you will need before you start student life at Cardiff Met and to help you settle in to your new lifestyle.
Students find the International Student Induction programme very beneficial as it is designed to help answer any doubts or questions that students may have about life in Cardiff, their studies at Cardiff Met and living in a foreign country.
The international student induction dates will be confirmed to you via email once you have accepted your offer to study with us. The Induction programme is specifically designed for international students and will include:
A welcome and introduction by members of the Global Student Advisory Service
Information about studying at Cardiff Met and its facilities
Enrolment instructions
Information about opening a bank account, registering with the police, access to the health service etc
Details of your social programme
Advice about accommodation options
A chance to address any concerns or questions you may have
The exact programme including venue and times, will be sent to you before you arrive in the UK when arrangements have been confirmed.
We strongly recommend that you arrive in Cardiff in time to attend the International Student Induction programme. Students who have attended in the past have said that it was an excellent opportunity to meet their new classmates, explore Cardiff, learn how to find accommodation in the private sector and get all of their questions answered before they started their studies. As a result of the current pandemic, all induction sessions will be held online so all students can attend regardless of whether they are in the UK or still in their home country.
Course Induction
Your school and course induction will start on the Monday after the International Student Induction week. It is important that you attend and join in with all of the scheduled activities to ensure you receive your timetable, meet your lecturers and your new classmates and also participate in the university welcome events.
We recommend that you read your course induction information before arriving at the University as you might be required to complete some pre-arrival tasks or reading which will be discussed during your induction.
