Tempus projects are funded by the EU Commission to support the modernisation of Higher Education and create an area of co-operation in countries surrounding the EU.
The scheme covers countries in the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, North Africa and the Middle East.
1. What is Tempus?
TEMPUS is an EU programme which supports the modernisation of Higher
Education in the Partner Countries of the Western Balkans, Eastern Europe and
Central Asia and the Mediterranean region, mainly through university cooperation
projects.
2. What Tempus activity is Cardiff Met involved in?
Cardiff Met currently coordinate a project called Leadership in Higher
Education Management (LHEM). More information on the project can be found by
clicking the appropriate tab from the menu on the left.

(LHEM) website you can view the online calendar detailing past and upcoming
events related to the project’s work.
4. Output of the project
One of the great success stories so far from the TEMPUS – Leadership in
Higher Education Management (LHEM) has been the establishment and full
recognition of the NGO Women in Higher Education Elite Leadership (WHEEL).
WHEEL is a network that seeks to advance, support, develop and connect women
leaders in higher education across the MEDA region. The network aspires to be a
‘steering wheel’ that guides the process of women’s empowerment in higher
education.
