What is the Cardiff Partnership?

The Cardiff Partnership for Initial teacher education (ITE) is a collaboration between Cardiff Metropolitan University, schools, two Russell Group universities, two regional consortia and City of Cardiff Council.

The Cardiff Partnership will provide a research-informed clinical practice model of ITE underpinned by key principles of the highly-regarded Oxford Internship scheme, whilst developing research and continuing professional development (CPD) partnerships with the University of Oxford, Cardiff University and other providers in Wales, through the University and Schools Council for the Education of Teachers in Wales (USCET). The Cardiff Partnership is committed to the planning of all ITE content, structure and pedagogical strategies with our Lead Partnership Schools/Lead Alliances with the aim of developing future teachers for Wales with the skills, knowledge and ambition to lead the changes outlined in ‘Successful Futures’.

Julia Longville
Meet the Team

"The Cardiff Partnership for Initial Teacher Education provides our students with the opportunity to work in some of our strongest schools. Our students are exceptionally well supported, by our staff at Cardiff Met and in our partner schools. Now is a great opportunity to join the Cardiff Partnership as a Lead Partnership School or Clinical Practice School and make a difference to the development of future teachers in Wales."

Julia Longville, Dean of Cardiff School of Education and Social Policy.

Emma - Student Mentor
Student Mentor

"I love my role as a student mentor and working in partnership with Cardiff Met and students throughout their PGCE. As a subject mentor I strive to be the best role model I can. This role gives me the opportunity to develop, support and challenge the ITE's as they embark on their future career in the teaching profession."

Emma Cavender-Morris, Senior Mentor, Tredegar Comprehensive School.
