Overview

Laura graduated in 2011 with a BA (Hons) in Surface Pattern Design from Swansea College of Art. Shortly after, she was the recipient of the first Jane Phillips Award from Mission Gallery, Swansea and Welsh Artist of the Year Drawing Prize 2012. Laura then moved to Western Australia to complete her master’s degree whilst working at Perth Institute of Contemporary Art.

Returning to the UK, Laura completed a PGCE teaching qualification and established her studio practice where she has exhibited nationally and internationally, receiving selected funding and awards from Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council England and the Gane Trust whilst completing large-scale public commissions for clients such as Persimmon Homes and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Laura previously taught at Plymouth College of Art and Bristol School of Art.

Laura has worked as a freelance artist for over 10 years working primarily with printed and dyed textiles, favouring hand printed techniques for its distinctive appearance, a love of process and deep admiration of craftmanship.
