The Open Campus programme plays an integral part in the evolving community engagement and social responsibility strategy for the University. It is an active embodiment of our values driven approach, empowering our staff and students to engage with our communities.
Through successful delivery of the programme our communities will develop confidence that, through the creation of trusted partnerships, we will work hard to effect educational transformation, research with impact, sustainable economic growth, social cohesion and health and wellbeing. Crucially the programme also enables us to work in partnership with our students in instilling the Cardiff Met EDGE (Ethical, Digital, Global & Entrepreneurial Skills) to help develop confidence, resilience and experiences that will prepare them for life after university and through to employment.
This collaborative approach ensures that any Open Campus project aligns with Welsh Government's Wellbeing of Future Generations Act, Vision for Sport, the New Curriculum for Wales, the Minister of Education's vision for a Civic University and 'Cardiff 2030' the vision for a Capital City of learning & opportunity.
Contributing to the Wellbeing of Future Generations Act and Vision for Sport through Open Campus:
- A Healthier Wales - Open Campus provides the opportunity for people from across communities to engage in sport and physical activity supporting an Active Nation.
- A More Equal Wales - through our collaborative approach, these opportunities are being offered to all people, regardless of background or circumstance and are for Everyone.
- A Wales of vibrant culture and thriving Welsh language - Open Campus supports and enhances the strong affinity with Sport in Wales through encouraging activity in a range of sports from an early age and we will be delivering sessions through the medium of Welsh in our Welsh language degrees.
- Enjoyment - through providing a diverse range of activities, Open Campus provides a range of positive experiences so everyone can enjoy sport and physical activity.
