However, despite this exemption, the University continues with its robust maintenance strategy in line with statutory obligations, its Schools continue to maintain their risk assessments to ensure minimal impact on the local environment (dealt with at a local level within Schools). The University has completed a full survey of surface and foul water drainage and has an action plan to address all remedial work identified.
The University continues to hold a letter of consent, again this was re-visited in July 2015 which permits the University to deposit trade effluent into the local drainage system. This consent recognises the insignificant impact that the University effluent has on the water course.
