Biography: 
David is Professor Emeritus of Biomechanics in the School of Sport at Cardiff Metropolitan University in the UK. He is a Fellow of ISBS, the British Association of Sport and Exercises Sciences and the Royal Society of Medicine. He is a member of the Peer Review College for the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council in the UK and between 2005 and 2011 headed the research unit in biomechanics based in the Welsh National Indoor Athletics Centre in Cardiff. He was Principal Investigator on the SESAME Project aimed at developing wired and wireless technologies to enhance feedback in athletic training, an entry from which won the 2010 European Athletics Innovation Technology Award. David has been part of the International Olympic Medical Commission’s research team at four Summer Olympic Games and a member of the International Gymnastics Federation Science Commission. He has also been an editorial board member for the Journal of Sports Sciences and the Journal of Sports Engineering and Technology and a member of ISBS since 1998. His research focuses on developing and applying measurement techniques in sport and exercise, including analyses of performances in major international competitions. He specialises in understanding human movements in athletics, gymnastics and soccer. David has published over 200 papers in journals and conferences, supervised more than 20 PhD students and presents at international science, sports science, sports engineering and coaching conferences including the Royal Photographic Society, the Institute of Physics, The Royal Society, The European College of Sports Sciences and the International Olympic Committee.
