Imran Baig, PhD, FHEA (UK), CEng (EC, UK), M-IET (UK), M-BCS (UK), SM-IEEE (US) is the Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) at the Cardiff School of Technologies (CST), Cardiff Metropolitan University, Cardiff, UK. He earned his Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, M.Sc. in Computer Engineering, and M.Sc. in Computer Science from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Malaysia; the Center for Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE), Islamabad, Pakistan; and Computer Science College, Islamabad, Pakistan, respectively.
He is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Member of the IET (MIET), a Professional Member of the British Computer Society (MBCS), and a Senior Member of the IEEE (SMIEEE). He has over 22 years of experience in higher education, including teaching and learning, curriculum development, research and development, student advising and mentoring, and academic administration. His research focuses on 5G/6G Communication Networks, AI-enabled Networking, Internet of Things (IoT), Mobile Ad-Hoc and Sensor Networks, Cyber Security, Smart Computing, Intelligent Systems, Object Oriented Analysis & Design, and Software Engineering.
He has supervised several independent studies and research projects at the UG and PG levels. He has published 66 research papers, including 40 as first author (41 Journal Publications, 23 IEEE Conference Proceedings, and 2 Book Chapters). According to Google Scholar, he has over 1500 citations with an h-index of 18 and an i10-index of 27. He was also awarded the Sultanate of Oman's highest TRC research award, the National Research Award 2018 (NRA 2018), in the category of Information and Communication Technologies. He founded the International Journal of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering (ITEE, founded in December 2012).
