“The guidance and knowledge from the lecturers at Cardiff Metropolitan University helped me delve into different hospitality and events sectors that I would not have initially considered, this includes large sporting events, which is now my perfect career. The topics covered across all the modules allowed me to learn about the fundamentals of the industries as well as my personal development, both aspects have helped me significantly in my role now and the stages beforehand.”

Sophie Edwards
BA (Hons) International Hotel and Hospitality Management / Hospitality Coordinator at Cardiff City FC

“The course at Cardiff Met was fantastic. The way that you learn the theory behind the operational side of the industry; the strategic management module alongside modules such as Business, Finance, HR means that you gain an overall view of what running a hospitality business means. I participated in extracurricular activities such as the ‘Passion for Hospitality’ events which created opportunities for creating contacts in the sector and ultimately led to securing my initial role as Graduate Manager at The Manor House hotel.”

Gareth Rees
BA (Hons) International Hotel and Hospitality Management / Food and Beverage Manager, The Manor House

“Studying Events Management at Cardiff Met was the best three years and gave me a solid base for the start of my career. I enjoyed living in a new city with new friends and studying a topic I was passionate about. In my role as Events Project Manager at Top Banana, I have worked on a wide range of events from large scale concert style events with Years & Years, Rylan and Ella Eyre to an intimate fashion show with Victoria Beckham and everything in between!”

“The International Tourism Management course is so interesting, and we have studied so many different aspects of the tourism industry with the additional bonus that I can also learn Spanish on the side as well, which is super useful! My proudest achievement is working for the sustainable racing event, Extreme E, in Scotland where I got to network and meet some amazing people.”
