Virtual Tour – Cardiff School of Technologies

The School of Technologies features a suite of dedicated high-tech labs and teaching spaces, open learning areas for collaborative working, a research hub for PhD students and social areas.

The spaces are modern and have been designed with flexibility in mind, so you can work, relax or socialise with other students. You can even let off some much-needed steam by playing a game of foosball or by trying to beat the highest score on our MAME video game machine. Experience VR like never before in our VR development booths and learn in a truly unique way.

The School is on an ambitious expansion journey that will see more cutting-edge facilities being developed in the coming years to support our learning, teaching and research.

“Going to university was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’ve met genuine friends for life and learnt skills that have given me the confidence to push myself outside of my confidence zone. I’m now part of a booming industry – one that is constantly evolving and makes a real difference in the modern world. In my current position as DevOps Engineer for Vistair, we’re pioneering software for safety, quality and document management for commercial airlines, aerospace and defence. All this wouldn’t have been possible without my degree.”

“I found that I could manoeuvre the course towards what I was finding the most interesting through the optional modules and optional year in industry – which I undertook. Completing my year in industry allowed me to explore sectors of the tech industry that I didn’t even know existed! Cardiff Met was supportive throughout as well, giving CV advice before any interviews. Overall, I would recommend the Computer Science course at Cardiff Met to anyone with a passion for problem solving and an interest in tech – no prior skills needed, as we’re built from the ground up!”

BSc (Hons) Computer Science

“Games can be whatever you want them to be, especially when you make them, and the Computer Games Design & Development course at Cardiff Met can give you the tools and the skills to do just that. From creating clones or remakes of games from the past, using coding, art, and the toolsets provided to create them, all the way to designing and creating new games as a team, every aspect of the course is challenging and fulfilling. You do not only learn about games design on the course, but also get a fundamental baseline understanding of vital I.T. knowledge and it’s applications. I have gone from feeling like I could barely write code when I started the course, to now where I am creating game engines and games almost every month.”

Mike Havard
BSc (Hons) Computer Games Design & Development

“Starting my undergrad course at Cardiff Met was one of the best decisions I have ever made. By the end of the three years of studying, I can certainly say BIS was a course that fuelled my passion for technology and business. The tutors in the School of Technologies were always there to listen and provide guidance when I needed it most and I am truly thankful for all their support. A few years ago, it was a dream to think of securing a job and finishing university with a first-class degree but here I am, with my first-class BIS degree, working as a Business Systems Exec back home in Northern Ireland!”
