Lisa Aske, Senior Wellbeing Advisor

“I have worked in student support for almost 20 years and continue to feel very passionately that every young person should have equal access to education. Disability should not be a barrier.

At Cardiff Met I work as part of a very dedicated team, who work very hard to ensure that any student who does disclose a disability is provided with individual support that will empower them to achieve their potential.”

Emlyn Lewis, Sports Coaching Lecturer & Personal Tutor

“From the moment you start your studies with us, your personal tutor will be available to support you in any way through your time here at Cardiff Met.

This support can include discussing your academic achievements, areas which need improvement, or any personal issues you may be experiencing. No matter the query, your personal tutor will be able to signpost you to the most appropriate person or support within the university or beyond.”

Student Life – a Mature Student Perspective
Mature student Julie

“As a mature student I have found the pastoral support at Cardiff Met to be exceptional. Returning to studies after a long period of working was a bit nerve wracking, to say the least, but I needn’t have worried.

From the very first lecture, I knew that I would be guided and supported through my studies. Being assigned a personal tutor at the outset enabled me to develop new skills with confidence. At lectures, my personal tutor reminded me of the support available and to tell him if there was anything stopping me reach my potential.

As I graduate this year, I look back on the stellar support from him and the wider student services throughout the pandemic. The ethos of student care has been evident all the way through my studies and has enabled me to full fill my dream to become an interior designer.”
