On receipt of an offer from Cardiff Met, you should use this section to find details of everything which is expected of you between now and the start of your programme.
We'll also be emailing you at important times throughout the year to make sure you are kept up-to-date with everything you need to know about your application - so
keep checking those emails! Please also note that it is possible that our emails may appear in your 'Spam' or 'Junk' folders, so please check these to avoid missing out on key information about your application.
If you change your contact details, it is important you update these with UCAS so you don't miss out on important information. Entry Requirements
Entry requirements for courses are published on the Cardiff Metropolitan University website as well as UCAS and the University’s prospectus.
Cardiff Met accepts a broad range of qualifications as we recognise that applicants have a wealth of different experiences and may have followed different educational routes. Applications are considered on an individual basis and when making offers we consider a range of factors in addition to, or in some cases instead of, formal examination results.
For undergraduate applicants the University understands that predicted grades are an estimate. We will consider applicants with predicted grades that fall below the published entry criteria taking all the information on the application into consideration.
Previous study, work experience and training can also count as credit towards your programme of study, this is known as Recognising Prior Learning (RPL) and please refer to the section on Prior Learning. We encourage students of all ages and from all backgrounds to study with us and know that significant achievement can be obtained through work or private study.
Cardiff Met is committed to ensuring that everyone who has the determination, skills, and desire to access Higher Education should be able to do so. We use information provided on your application and additional data collected as part of the admissions process. This allows us to recognise an applicant’s achievement and potential to succeed in the context of background and experience. Information is considered as part of the decision-making process, or as part of the confirmation process when qualifications are achieved.
Offers made are based on the UCAS tariff for the majority of courses and entry requirements can contain a range of offers to accommodate both contextualised admissions and differences in achievement, experiences and skills achieved. Motivation and potential is also considered for some courses through interview or assessment of a portfolio or written materials.
Differences can occur between entry qualifications, qualifications advertised for entry and what is accepted for entry to Cardiff Met. This is due to a number of factors including contextualised indicators, overall national standard of achievement within qualifications and relevance to course, target numbers for courses and demand, extenuating circumstances, employment undertaken as well as work experience and volunteer work, professional (industry related) qualifications achieved, sporting achievements, demonstration of skills/achievements, e.g., portfolio and accreditation of prior learning.
Further information on entry requirements is within Cardiff Met’s Admissions Policy and contextualised information can be obtained from Cardiff Met’s Contextualised Admissions Policy.
Understanding Your Offer
You can view the conditions of your offer on your offer letter sent to you from Cardiff Met.
If your offer is
Conditional on your current studies, i.e. you are currently undertaking A Levels, BTECs, Access, etc., Admissions should receive these automatically in the summer, provided your School or College have notified UCAS. Previously completed qualifications, such as GCSEs need to be scanned and emailed to Admissions for verification to offers@cardiffmet.ac.uk.
If your offer is conditional on proof of qualifications only, you need to provide Admissions with
all qualifications disclosed on your UCAS application. You can do this by scanning your certificates and emailing them to offers@cardiffmet.ac.uk. Alternatively, you can drop them into one of our

You will be notified via email when and how you should complete this process once you have chosen Cardiff Met as your Firm choice. For further information and guidance on the DBS application process, please refer to www.cardiffmet.ac.uk/dbs.

Confirmation Of Your Place At Cardiff Met
From July onwards, Admissions will start to receive BTEC results directly from UCAS. Providing your results have been received by Cardiff Met and you have met your offer conditions, we will confirm your place online for you.
Mid August, Admissions will receive the Access to HE Diploma results and A Level results directly from UCAS. Providing your results have been received by Cardiff Met and you have met your offer conditions, we will confirm your place through UCAS.
Unfortunately, Cardiff Met does experience a number of issues where not all results are not received, or there are discrepancies in achieved results, and in some cases delays of the full qualification being published. In these situations, you need to be contactable.
If your place is not confirmed by mid August, please contact us to find out why. This may be due to us not receiving your results, at which point you can send us evidence of your exam results. If you have not yet received your certificates, confirmation directly from your School or College will be sufficient, provided it is in the form of an official letter.
If you have not met the conditions of your offer and your place is still Conditional, please contact us to check we have received all of your results. Once we have all of your results, your application will be referred to the Programme Director to make a final decision on your application.
You will be sent your Student Joining Pack to be used in conjunction with our dedicated New Students website, where you will be able to download your joining information relating to Induction Week. Please make sure you read this information.
Remember, if you have not yet sent in evidence of your GCSEs, please do so before the start of the course.
Online Enrolment
You will be made enrolment ready when all offer conditions have been met and you will be sent an email with details of how to complete the process. More information can be found on www.cardiffmet.ac.uk/enrolment.
If you have any queries relating to online enrolment please contact enrolment@cardiffmet.ac.uk or call
029 2020 5669.
If your place has been confirmed, but you have not been sent your enrolment details, this may be due to your pending DBS disclosure or Occupational Health Screening clearance.
You should have enrolled prior to attending your Induction Week.
Changes & Discontinuation of Programmes
The University makes every effort to ensure that the information provided to applicants on programmes being offered is as accurate and up-to-date as possible. However, programmes of study are continually reviewed and there may well be some changes between the time of publication and the time the student starts the programme. The running of University programmes is also subject to minimum numbers, i.e. a certain number of students need to undertake the programme for it to be viable. Having a minimum number of students on a programme aims towards enriching the student experience.
Where changes are made or a programme is discontinued, applicants are informed of this as soon as possible via a letter, preferably before accepting the offer of a place, so that opportunity is given to consider an alternative programme at Cardiff Met or elsewhere. If a decision to discontinue a programme is made after applicants have been offered a place, Admissions will make every effort to offer relevant alternatives and provide assistance to applicants to find that alternative choice.
For further information on changes to programmes, please refer to the disclaimer included in the Student Handbook (www.cardiffmet.ac.uk/studenthandbook) which you will receive as part of your joining instructions in the Summer.
Subject to Validation Programmes
All new programmes at the University must undergo validation, the purpose of which is to ensure that the proposed programme is aligned to the University's Mission and its content reflects appropriate levels of academic standards and quality. Any changes made to a programme during the validation event will be communicated to you and updated on our course pages.
