Andrew is a Senior Lecturer in Sports Coaching Science within the Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences. He is currently the Programme Director for the BSc Sport Coaching Undergraduate degree and teaches across undergraduate and post graduate programmes. Andrew also currently supervises a number of post graduate students within coaching and coach education and is a member of the Schools Social Science ethics committee.
In 2012 Andrew was awarded the British Psychological Society Outstanding Thesis of the year for his PhD titled "An examination of Robust Sport-Confidence in elite sport". Since then Andrew's research interests have shifted to the relational and social nature of sport coaching. He has an emerging research profile within this field and has secured several research grants and funding opportunities to develop his work.
He is an experienced coach having developed a wide range of experiences predominantly in football and triathlon. He has coached children and adults across community settings, local clubs and at an international world-class level (e.g., World Championships, Commonwealth Games). He also has extensive experience of working as a coach educator with National Governing Bodies. Prior to his employment at Cardiff Metropolitan University Andrew was a visiting lecturer at University of Wales, Newport, leading several Sport Psychology and Sport Science related undergraduate modules as well as contributing to the MSc in Sport Coaching degree.
