Cardiff Metropolitan University has recorded another strong year in the major league tables, becoming the second highest UK climber in the 2022 Complete University Guide.
Published on June 8, the 2021 Times and Sunday Times Welsh University of the Year climbed 24 places to position 63 out of 130 UK universities, its highest position since 2010, and ranked 4th in Wales.
Student satisfaction remains strong, with graduate prospects continuing to climb including Speech and Languages Therapies topping the UK table for graduates feeling they are ‘on track’ and Tourism, Transport, Travel and Heritage Studies claiming the top spot overall in Wales.
The 2020 Office for Students’ National Student Survey (NSS) results placed Cardiff Met with an overall satisfaction rate of 85%, two points above the UK average of 83%. The annual NSS is taken by final year undergraduate students to assess their university experience in areas including teaching, academic support, learning resources and placements. This year, almost three-quarters of our final year students undertook the survey.
Professor Cara Aitchison, President and Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff Metropolitan University, said:
"The student experience and the quality of our learning and teaching is at the heart of everything we do at Cardiff Met, and this year’s Complete University Guide results are testament to the constant dedication and tireless efforts of our staff working in partnership with the Students’ Union.
"The Complete University Guide is a critical form of feedback for us and we are absolutely delighted with this year’s results. Over recent years, we have introduced a number of initiatives to support a strategic programme of improvement, growth and diversification. It is especially pleasing to see the university growing in both size and quality as reflected in this climb of 24 places. This year’s results continue to demonstrate the year-on-year improvement that the University has seen in its performance over recent years; improvement that resulted in the award of The Times and Sunday Times Welsh University of the Year for 2021.
"Looking to the future, we are focused on continually improving the student experience with the spotlight firmly on giving our students the Ethical, Digital, Global and Entrepreneurial skills that equip our graduates with the Cardiff Met EDGE in today’s exceptionally competitive market."
The Complete University Guide is based on information gathered from the Higher Education Standards Agency (HESA), National Student Survey (NSS) and Research Excellence Framework (REF) and is aimed at informing prospective students about the standing of universities in subject areas.
