So far, Dr. Khan has published his research work in reputed journals internationally such as Finance Research Letters, International Journal of Finance and Economics, International Journal of Islamic and Middle Eastern Finance and Management, Journal of Financial Crime, Journal of Management and Governance and Soft Computing, among others.
Given his specialization in the development of Islamic economics, he has an enduring interest in issues related to corporate governance and corruption in dual banking systems where both Islamic and conventional banks operate alongside each other.
His existing research mainly focused on using classical models in Islamic Banking and Finance, however, his research focus has shifted, and he intends to extend his current work to explore the use of FinTech in Islamic Banking and Finance for financial inclusion. The research in FinTech where finance meets with computing is still in its infancy in Islamic Banking and Finance sector.
His current research aims to explore the growing literature on theoretical underpinnings and empirical evidence regarding the role of financial technology in financial inclusion and provide a novel method to evaluate the implications of Islamic FinTech startups. To this end, he also set up an interdisciplinary research agenda by using an innovative application of data science, e.g., machine learning, deep learning, text analysis, and big data techniques.
