Research Strategy and Operational Plan
Cardiff School of Management (CSM) proposes a clear and coherent Operational Research Plan aimed at achieving internationally recognized research outputs through the development of high performing research centres leading to a strong REF 2021 return as well as enhancing curriculum through Research Informed Teaching.
In the latest Research Excellence Framework 2021, 100% of Cardiff School of Management's research impact was recognised as being internationally excellent, demonstrating the currency and positive effect of our engagement with business, government and society.
93% of the research activity submitted to the Business and Management Unit of Assessment was rated as being of internationally recognised quality and 89% of the research outputs were rated as being of internationally recognised quality or above in terms of originality, significance and rigour.
CSM Research Operational Plan has the following aim:
CSM will become an internationally recognized school for Management research dedicated to developing innovative strategies and practical solutions that address business problems encountered by organisations in the management of the end-to-end business chain.
The school, through its research centres/groups will disseminate new knowledge, solutions, and strategies for businesses and industry resulting from research and commercially related activity in the form of scholarly and practitioner oriented publications and presentations, teaching materials, and case studies so as to inform curriculum and industry partners.
Objectives
Obj 1 - Build an international reputation in business and management research driven by high quality quantitative and qualitative research and technological development.
Obj 2 - Support and develop staff capability and capacity towards research.
Obj 3 - Ensure quality enhancement and sustained research outputs.
Obj 4 - Undertake applied research by focusing on staff strengths and expertise through high yielding research programmes.
Obj 5 - Establish greater company / organisation connectivity and to develop CSMs role as a stimulator of ideas and innovative methods to support business sustainability and growth.
