1. What are Cardiff Met halls of residence like?
There are two Cardiff Met-owned halls of residence which are conveniently located to accommodate students studying on any of our two campuses. Rooms at Plas Gwyn halls are allocated to students studying at the Llandaff Campus and rooms at Cyncoed halls are allocated to students studying at the Cyncoed Campus.
Plas Gwyn Halls – Llantrisant Road, Cardiff, CF5 2XJ
The Plas Gwyn campus is in the small, pleasant cathedral ‘city’ of Llandaff, which is approximately two miles from Cardiff city centre and walking distance from the Llandaff Campus. All the single study bedrooms are self-catered and have en-suite bathroom facilities.
Cyncoed Halls – Cyncoed Road, Cardiff, CF23 6XD
The Cyncoed Halls are conveniently located within the grounds of the Cyncoed study campus. The halls contain single study bedrooms, some self-catering facilities whilst others have meals included in the price of the room. International students tend to prefer the self-catered accommodation so they can cook their favourite meals.
Facilities for both halls include on-site laundry, data room and communal TV room with vending machines. The halls are near shopping, banking and other facilities and students can also take advantage of the sports and leisure facilities at the Llandaff campus as well as the extensive sports and recreational facilities located at the Cyncoed campus, including an indoor swimming pool, Students’ Union bar, indoor tennis centre and fitness suite.
2. How much will halls of residence cost?
January 2025 Students
The prices confirmed below are based on a 24-week contract from Monday 13 January 2025 – Sunday 29 June 2025.
Plas Gwyn Halls of Residence
- £148 – £164 per week for a self-catered and en-suite room.
Cyncoed Halls of Residence
- There are currently no rooms available at Cyncoed for January 2025.
3. How can I book a room in Cardiff Met’s halls of residence?
Courses Starting in January 2025
Applications for halls of residence for January 2025 will open on
Monday 9 December 2024. Please note, you cannot apply for halls before this date.

Due to limited availability of rooms, rooms will be offered on a first come, first served basis.
Once you have submitted your application successfully, you should receive an automatic email to confirm that your application has been received.
Accommodation offers will be issued to students who have firmly accepted an unconditional course offer where a suitable room is available. Once an accommodation offer has been sent, students will have 7 days to accept the offer and pay an initial instalment to reserve a room. The initial instalment will be equivalent to
3% of the total accommodation fee for the 24-week contract.
4. When can I move into my room at halls of residence?
The earliest you can move in is Monday 13 January 2025.
5. How do I pay my accommodation fees?
Accommodation fees should be paid in two instalments. The first payment will be due on 20 January and the second payment will be due on 30 April. Full instalment information will be included in your accommodation offer email.
6. Can my family stay with me in the halls of residence?
Unfortunately, the answer is no. The rooms are all single study bedrooms and are therefore not suitable accommodation for students living with children and family members. However, the Global Student Advisory Service will offer advice to you on how to find more appropriate privately rented accommodation.
