Gothenburg Summer School for Sustainability

​The University of Gothenburg Summer School for Sustainability is a chance to take action! Deepen your understanding of global challenges and the UN Sustainable Development Goals by joining an international cohort of like-minded people for five inspirational summer weeks from 3rd July 2023 to 4th August 2023.

Programme:

Choose one of five courses in the areas of education, politics, IT, biology or archaeology to deepen your understanding of contemporary sustainability challenges and possibilities. Study with like-minded people from all over the world and meet lecturers and researchers with insight on the issues.

Courses:

  • Managing Migration
  • Digitalisation in a Changing World
  • Teaching Sustainable Development from a Global Perspective
  • Justice: Ideas and Ideals in Fiction, Philosophy and Religion
  • Biodiversity in Western Sweden


Activities:

Outside of the classroom there is a range of activities planned for you and your classmates.

Aside from interdisciplinary seminars and practical workshops, there will be design jams and language cafés, tours of Gothenburg and excursions in the archipelago helping  you to get to know Gothenburg and Sweden a bit better.

 

Accommodation & Location:

Accommodation is guaranteed in one of our centrally located student housing complexes. Prices range between £350 -£500.

 

Gothenburg:

Gothenburg is a thriving innovation and cultural hub on the west coast of Sweden, that shines brightly in the warm summer months when the sun never seems to set.

Enjoy social life and urban culture as well as beautiful and accessible nature – all in the same place. Take a swim in the sea, sample the local seafood-or vegetarian cuisine, and discover the picturesque island archipelago where bike is the only way to get around!

 

Application:

To be eligible to apply, you need to be enrolled and have successfully completed at least one semester at Cardiff Met.  You must apply direct to Global Opportunities, we will then forward the application link to successful.

 

Tuition fee:

The Gothenburg Summer School is free to Cardiff met students. You only pay for travel, accommodation and expenses.


Funding

Cardiff Met students can apply for the Turing or Taith funding to help support travel and accommodation.



Deadline:

Submit your expression of interest to Global Opportunities no later than 20th February 2023.  Formal online applications must be submitted by 28th March 2023.
