School/Directorate: Cardiff School of Sport and Health Sciences
Key Theme: Supports the University’s Sanctuary Status
Impact and Achievements:
A poster exhibition was hosted with images generated by 10 outreach students. The images were a reflection of how the students felt before engaging with the outreach module, and the impact that engaging in education had on each of them. The images were exhibited as posters during Refugee Week 2023 and were hosted in the Atrium within the School of Management.
Given the central location of the exhibition with high footfall, the impact of the posters were far-reaching with around 500+ participants able to engage with the exhibition and posters.
The exhibition was disseminated widely, with extensive Twitter coverage of the exhibition. The posters were impactful as they shared knowledge and real testimonials of outreach student experience with the university community. As a result, the project team have been invited to talk at an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion event next academic year, which will ensure the ongoing impact of this project. The images will also be included in a peer review manuscript reflecting on the pedagogic principles underpinning the outreach project.
