What courses can I study on the scholarship?
Please choose your type of mobility first and then find out about possible fields of study at the university you are interested in. The EU-METALIC website provides a list of Fields of Study you can choose from at each university. For further information please get in touch with the official EU-METALIC contact person at the respective host university.
What language requirements do I need to fulfil?
Each university states either in their information sheets, or in the prerequisites detailed in the programme information what language proficiency is required in order to be considered eligible for that programme. Please check this information to ensure you have the required knowledge to follow (or give) courses in the language concerned.
Do I have to pay tuition fees?
No, you do not have to pay tuition fees at your Host University, but you will continue to pay your registration fees at your home university if the mobility is inferior to 10 months.
Will I be awarded some form of diploma at the end of my mobility period?
Exchange mobility students will not obtain a diploma but will be provided with a transcript of records specifying the credits and grades obtained for each of the courses attended. This, together with the Learning Agreement, will guarantee the recognition and transfer of credits for all successfully complete courses. Degree-seeking students will receive a diploma supplement from the host university in the EU country.
What is a Home University Support Letter and do I need one?
A Home University Support Letter is a document that all Target Group 1 applicants must upload in their application. It must be signed by the official EU-METALIC contact person in your home university to ensure they are aware of your application.
If you are not a registered student or staff member at an institution then you do not need to complete this document.
Proof of Registration is listed as a mandatory document, but I am not registered at any university, what should I do?
If you are a Target Group 2 candidate who is in employment and NOT a registered student or staff member at a university, then please upload a document that confirms your employment status instead.
What is a Learning Agreement, Study/Research Plan, Training/Research/Teaching Plan and how do I get it?
A Learning Agreement, Study/Research Plan, Training/Research/Teaching Plan is a study plan that details what subjects/courses/fields of research you intend to cover during your mobility and thus provides information on what you want to achieve during your stay abroad. It has to be agreed on with the relevant persons in charge at your home university. The Learning Agreement, Study/Research Plan, Training/Research/Teaching Plan needs to be signed by the student/staff and the persons in charge at your home institution (academic coordinator and EU-METALIC contact person).
Just before the mobility is due to start the document needs to be signed by the academic coordinator and EU-METALIC contact person at the host institution who thereby guarantees that the incoming student/staff member can study/research the planned course units/modules.
What should I include in my Motivation Letters?
Your statement should be no more than 1 page in length and should detail your motivation for the course, host university and EU-METALIC programme in general. We have enabled 2 motivation documents to be uploaded in your application so that you can address the different priorities accordingly.
I haven't received my IELTS or TOEFL score yet and won't be able to upload this document before the deadline of this call. What should I do?
If you don't have all required documents now, please get in touch with your respective host university. If the host university exceptionally agrees that some documents can be sent after the deadline, this email conversation should be copied & pasted and uploaded as an explanation, together with any supporting documentation of language proficiency or certificates of local tests that you may have already taken. If your application is successful, you will be conditionally accepted and you will be given a certain deadline in order to submit the missing document.
I will complete my study programme in a few months from now, so I won't be able to upload my certificate until the deadline of this call. What should I do?
If you don't have all required documents now (e.g. you have not yet obtained your degree yet, but you will have obtained it once the mobility starts), please complete a Statement of Commitment (see Selection Documents) confirming the expected date of graduation which must be before the foreseen starting date of the mobility. If your application is successful, you will be conditionally accepted and you will be given a certain deadline in order to submit the missing document.
What is meant by "Official Qualification Certificate"?
Bachelor degree, master degree, doctorate degree or equivalent (according to the level of the applicant).
What is a "Transcript of Records"?
A list of courses or modules (exams or other forms of assessments) passed at your home university. This document will include the title of the course/module and the grade achieved.
Do I need to translate my documents?
For original documents that are not in English, or the language of instruction at the host university, you must upload scanned versions of certified translations/official translations of all these documents into English or the language of your host country. If not, the host university will not be able to assess the documentation.
