Melody is an Applied Psychologist, Registered Therapist, and qualified Clinical Supervisor who has worked in the realms of health since the early 80s. She has worked at Cardiff Metropolitan University since November 2014. She also teaches on postgraduate and undergraduate counselling and psychology programmes at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Her overarching theoretical orientation is Humanistic/Integrative and she has undertaken psychotherapeutic training in transpersonal psychology, systemic practice, and creative arts therapies.

Prior to Cardiff Metropolitan University, Melody worked as an applied psychologist/therapist, clinical supervisor, and consultant for a number of statutory services and third sector agencies, and continues to operate a small independent practice alongside her teaching roles. Other previous responsibilities include external assessor for a postgraduate clinical supervision training operating throughout the UK, and visiting lecturer for a range of educational institutions. Prior to this again she worked in both hospital and community settings as a nurse and support worker with people with learning disabilities and mental health problems. She has worked therapeutically with children, young people and adults with a wide range of needs and complex histories.
