Priority for a room in Halls
Priority for a room in Halls of Residence is given to first year students. When allocating rooms we take into consideration the distance students live from Cardiff and the date the online Application for Halls was received.
Welsh speakers will be able to inform us if the prefer to live with fellow Welsh speakers. Depending upon demand we will endeavour to meet that preference.
We will guarantee you a place in University-approved accommodation if you're applying to be a full-time student at Cardiff Met for the first time.
To meet the criteria for guaranteed accommodation, you also need to:
have never been a full time student at Cardiff Met in the past
have accepted an offer of a place at Cardiff Met and made us your first choice through UCAS
submit your online halls application for accommodation to us no later than 31st May
need the accommodation for the full letting period as a single occupant
accept our offer of accommodation, and pay your holding deposit to us, within seven days of us issuing the offer
ensure we have existing suitable accommodation to meet your needs
Unfortunately due to the limited number of Halls available we are not able to accept applications from returning students (including those who have previously completed a foundation year) unless there are exceptional circumstances.
Post Graduate students should be aware that Halls are primarily occupied by first year students and that Halls may not be conducive to a Post Graduate workload. We do not have dedicated Post Graduate Halls.
Unconditional Firm who have applied before 31st May will hear before the end of July regarding their offer.
Conditional Firm will hear following the 'A Level' results providing you become Unconditional Firm for Cardiff Met. We can not make you an offer until you become Unconditional Firm on the UCAS system for a Cardiff Met course.
What happens next?
Once you have completed your online application it will be sent automatically to the Accommodation Office. You will receive an acknowledgement e-mail which you should keep as it is proof of your application. If you have not received an acknowledgement e-mail within 2 days please contact the Accommodation Office on 02920 416188/89. We will then check that your application has been received.
If we are able to offer you a place in halls we will e-mail you with an offer. Please check your JUNK box as sometimes it may redirect to this area. If the offer is for Cardiff Metropolitan Halls, the e-mail will include attachments that will need to be printed, signed and sent back to the Accommodation Office within 7 days of the e-mail being sent. If we offer you a place in one of the any of the private halls (not owned by Cardiff Met), then the e-mail will give you clear instructions about how to book the specific room allocated to you through their online booking system.
If you do not respond to your offer e-mail within 7 days
we will assume that you do not require the accommodation and the offer will be withdrawn and offered to another applicant. If you have any difficulty responding within the the seven day period please contact us immediately.
Should all the halls become full and we have no more halls left to offer, we will still keep you on our waiting list for any cancellations that occur and let you know as soon as any rooms are cancelled. We will also send you alternative information on accommodation options within the private sector, such as student houses and other privately owned halls.
