The Quality Enhancement Directorate manages Home and Partner External Examining functions - from nomination and recruitment through to fee payment, exam board reporting and analysis.
All University programmes must have an approved external examiner in place and consideration of external examiner feedback is at the centre of the University's integrated quality assurance and enhancement processes. The role of external examiners is clearly defined in the University's Academic Handbook and related policies and regulations regarding nomination, appointment, induction and support can be accessed here.
Many University staff members act as External Examiners at other institutions. The QED is currently establishing a network for prospective and existing examiners to informally mentor, network, and share good practice. This group, facilitated by the QED, will also host and run the Advance HE External Examiner training. If you are interested in becoming an external examiner or joining the network please contact qed@cardiffmet.ac.uk
