Staff Overview

​​Dr.Priyatharshini Rajaram has over 20 years’ of experience in teaching and research and currently working as lecturer and Programme Director(BSc Applied Data Science) in School of Technologies, Cardiff Metropolitan University. She completed her UG degree in CSE at St. Joseph’s College of Engineering, Chennai, India in 2001 and PG degree at Easwari Engineering College, Chennai, India in the year 2008.She completed her PhD in October 2017 on thesis titled “An Efficient Mining Framework for Coronary Disease Diagnosis from Bi-Modal Clinical Data” in Anna University, Chennai, India. Her research interests focus towards applying AI ,Machine Learning, Medical Image Analysis and Data Science. She has published more than 40 papers in International Journals, Conferences with 200+ citations and 5 Book Chapters with Springer and Elsevier Academic Press.

Teaching

​​I have taught on a range of subjects, including the Analytics & Business Intelligence, Data warehousing and Data Mining, Machine Learning, Operating Systems, Business Process and Data Analysis and Enterprise Resource Planning. I enjoy supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students undertaking their final year projects and dissertations, particularly in areas such as:

  • Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for Pattern Recognition etc.

Research Funding

  1. Funding of 10,000 Rs got sanctioned by TNSCST(Tamil Nadu Science and Technology) for the project titled “Demand based blue collared job scheduling using meta heuristics approaches” in 2017.
  2. Funding of 5 Lakhs got approved for organizing a short-term training programme on AI and Machine Learning frameworks for Big Data Analytics by AICTE in 2020
  3. Received RIS Global Academy Cardiff Met Interdisciplinary fund of £3000 for the project titled “Social enterprise as a mechanism to alleviate poverty among refugees and support integration into the host communities in Cardiff.
  4. Received RIS Accelerator fund of £10,000 for the project titled” Rapid and early diagnostic stroke detection based on integrated EEG and Ultrasound device”.
