“Gaining hands-on practical experience during my degree was a big part of my learning journey at Cardiff Met. I learnt techniques that have set me up for my career, including blood testing, VO2 max tests, analysing bacteria and so much more. I now work in a Technical Laboratory role using the skills and knowledge gained during the degree on a day-to-day basis.”

How Software Engineering at Cardiff Met led me to a career I love
Thomas Henson

“Going to university was one of the best decisions I’ve made. I’ve met genuine friends for life and learnt skills that have given me the confidence to push myself outside of my confidence zone. I’m now part of a booming industry – one that is constantly evolving and makes a real difference in the modern world. ln my current position as DevOps Engineer for Vistair, we’re pioneering software for safety, quality and document management for commercial airlines, aerospace and defence. All this wouldn’t have been possible without my degree.”

Top Tips for Exams Revision

Taking exams over the next few weeks? We’re sure the hard work will pay off, but here’s some top tips from our student ambassadors to help you with your revision:

Make a revision timetable. Think about what time you are most efficient, by planning you can focus on the subjects equally and in the order the exams are in.

Repetition is key. Review your revision notes and condense down each time.

Relax. Planning your breaks is just as important as planning revision time to stop burnout.

Test yourself. Use past papers to familiarise yourself with the question styles. Do it under exam conditions to best prepare you for timings.

Reward yourself. Set yourself bitesize goals and reward yourself for doing them, chocolate (or your favourite treat!) makes a great incentive!

Get in the zone. Put your revision notes around in key areas. Brushing your teeth? How about 2 mins of revising flashcards whilst you do!
