LUCY ROWLAND

Course & Campus: Illustration, Llandaff Campus

Why I became a Student Ambassador:

I found that retail jobs didn’t fit around my studies and I never had time to do uni work or have a social life. Being a student ambassador meant I could choose shifts that fitted around my studies and choose the number of shifts I did. I love the university and doing illustration, the fact I get to talk about both and help new students find the right path for them is really exciting.

Best part of being a Student Ambassador:

I really like making connections with people, I worked at UCAS events in London and Manchester, talking to students about the School of Art and Design, getting the chance to travel with the job is really fun. At open days throughout the rest of the year I recognised students I met at these events and was able to carry on the conversations and help with further with their university choices.

MARK TAGARA

Course & Campus: Graduated from BSc Architectural Design and Technology, now studying MDes Global Design in CSAD Llandaff Campus

Why I became a Student Ambassador:

I was already working for the Students Union representing students of CSAD, so I thought why not take the step forward and be able to represent the whole university by being an ambassador. I was fortunate to be given a place here at Cardiff Met and I want to be able to show others that Cardiff Met will give them the same opportunity.

Best part of being a Student Ambassador:

Getting to meet new people and talk to them about what their aspirations are. I was once in their shoes and I know I would have benefited from someone helping me, so I’m glad I can be that person for them.
