Cardiff Metropolitan University is the biggest climber in Wales in
The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025, having achieved its best position in this prestigious league table since 2006.
Cardiff Met has jumped 12 places into 66th place, rewarding the University’s continuing journey of improvement in the National Student Survey and its strong commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2025 provides prospective students and their families with information to make an informed choice about their higher education, ranking a variety of measures including student experience, teaching quality and research performance.
This year, the Guide has added a sustainability metric from People & Planet and increased the weighting of the graduate prospect measure.
President and Vice-Chancellor at Cardiff Metropolitan University, Professor Rachael Langford, said: “It’s rewarding to see Cardiff Met continuing to climb in The Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide, particularly as this league table places such a strong emphasis on impactful sustainability activity and initiatives.
“We’re proud to consistently be in the top 10 universities in the UK in the People & Planet University League, and our commitment to making a positive impact on the environment and our communities is at the heart of everything we do.
“It’s particularly heartening to see our improving National Student Survey scores having an impact on league tables, as it reflects the dedication of our staff to delivering the highest quality student experience and driving attainment.”
There were some impressive achievements for subject areas and individual programmes in the Good Uni Guide, including:
- Art and Design jumping 10 places into 24th spot overall, ranking 13th in the UK for research and 19th for graduate prospects.
- Hospitality remains in the top 20 in the UK, keeping 16th spot, while ranking in the top 10 for research and 14th for graduate prospects.
- Sport Science is ranked 22 in the UK, up one place this year.
