The past six days have been a great showcase of determination from Cardiff Met’s athletes at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Funmi Oduwaiye made an impressive Paralympic debut in the women’s F64 discus throw final. Competing against a strong field, Funmi secured a commendable eighth place with a phenomenal effort, demonstrating her talent on the world stage. Her journey from former Archers Basketball player to Paralympian has been an inspiring story and it looks likely there are many more exciting chapters to come.

In wheelchair basketball, our athletes have been making their mark. Katie Morrow, Maddie Martin, and Jade Atkin have been pivotal in the GB Women’s Wheelchair Basketball team’s performances. The team is through to the quarter-finals after securing one win in their three group-stage games.

On the men’s side, Phil Pratt and Team GB’s wheelchair basketball squad won all of their games in Pool A, following a resounding 85-50 win against hosts France last night. They look forward to their quarterfinal match against Australia this evening at 18:15.
