Dr Maria Ash has worked as an academic at Cardiff Met for 18 years. She is a Senior Lecturer in HRM and Organisational Studies and teaches across a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes within the School of Management. She is currently module leader on the MBA, the MSc in HRM and BSc International Business Management and Business and Management Studies. Her roles have also included Field Group Chair, Personal Tutor and Programme Director.
Her PhD thesis explored gender policy in UK higher education from the perspective of women academics, adopting a Bordieuan theoretical framework and relational analysis to explore the dichotomy between the rhetoric and reality of policy and change management processes, and the possibilities for transformative change. Her research interests are in sociology of work and diversity and inclusion, particularly in regard to policy implementation, and organizational transformational change from a critical management perspective.
