Accounting, Finance and Economics

The Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance offers a range of specialist courses, from undergraduate through to PhD, applied research and consultancy.

Teaching and learning highlights are: our Accounting programme's 100% student satisfaction rating in the 2014 National Student Survey and maximum exemptions from the ACCA and ICAEW; our Economics programme's average starting salary of £26,000 against a national average of £21,000 (UniStats 2013). Our courses are also franchised to collaborative partners in Singapore, Sri Lanka, Oman, Bahrain and Greece.

As a department we have been recognised and promoted by the Welsh Government as a Financial Centre of Excellence. Our expertise is called upon by policymakers in Slovenia and Ireland, as well as the UK, and we have been awarded research grants from bodies such as the European Union, Research Councils UK and The Federation of Small Businesses. As a University we were ranked 41st in the UK, and 3rd in Wales, for r​​esearch quality in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework.​
