From 2nd to 6th October 2023 six members of staff from Cardiff Metropolitan University (from Global Engagement and Quality Enhancement Directorate) travelled to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to deliver the second training session as part of the EQUIP project.
The training was delivered to staff at Vietnam National University – International School (VNU-IS), and Hanoi University of Sciences and Technology (HUST) at their campuses in Hanoi on 2nd and 3rd October. Cardiff Met staff then travelled to Ho Chi Minh City to deliver the training programme to staff at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology on 5th and 6th October.
The training was open to staff at all faculties and departments at the Vietnamese partner institutions, and the participants who attended were from a diverse range of schools and departments. In total 87 participants attended the training across the three partners (HUST, VNU-IS and HCMUT).
The training, which was delivered by staff from the Quality Enhancement Directorate, covered topics such as the Quality Context, Programme Design and Curriculum Development, and Professional Development. The training programme was highly interactive and attendees were able to participate in practical workshop sessions. The participants were able to discuss and share best practices with colleagues from other departments across the universities, and through the interactive sessions colleagues from QED were also able to learn of innovative approaches being used at Vietnamese partners. Participants were given the opportunity to network both with colleagues from Cardiff Met, and with colleagues from other departments across their institutions.
One of the KPIs of this training programme was to train a total of 75 staff members across the 3 partner universities, HCMUT, HUST and VNU-IS. This objective was exceeded, with a total of 87 participants attending the training. Another KPI was to achieve an 80% response rate for the programme feedback survey. This again was exceeded, with 82% of the attendees completing the feedback survey. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, with 87.5% of respondents selecting “Strongly Agree” or “Agree” that the sessions were well organised. 90.3% of the respondents selected “Strongly Agree” or “Agree” that the training programme and its workshop topics were appropriate and worked well. The feedback provided in the survey will be taken on board and used to inform the project team when designing the EQUIP project toolkit, which is the final objective of the project.
