Two Sports Management graduates have recently launched a sports agency with support from Cardiff Met’s Centre for Entrepreneurship.

Ben Hofmeister and Jon Rogers, who both graduated in 2016, started Archer Sports Management in September after joining the Centre for Entrepreneurship’s six month accelerator programme.

Archer Sports Management provides a bespoke sponsorship service finding and brokering sponsorship opportunities on behalf of clients and brands.

Ben and Jon were awarded a place on the accelerator programme and free co-working space in the Centre’s start-up incubator after successfully pitching at Countdown to Launch, the Centre’s annual business start-up week.

Since joining the accelerator programme Ben and Jon have secured several clients for their sports agency including Sports Xtra, Archer’s Basketball and Cardiff Met FC - who have recently secured their place in the Welsh Premier League. They have also brokered their first sponsorship deal between Safestore UK and Cardiff Met FC.

Ben and Jon commented: “The support of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and the Countdown to launch programme have provided us with constant guidance, facilitating the transition from a potential idea to an established, operating business.

“By having the guidance of the Centre for Entrepreneurship team, along with Lee Sharma of Simply Do Ideas, we have developed a variety of skills and furthered our knowledge in both our field and business development, which we can take with us to any future ventures or employment opportunities."

Business Start-Up Manager at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, Dewi Gray added: “Ben and Jon have worked tirelessly over the last few months to grow their client base and to find suitable sponsorship opportunities for their clients. Their hard work, dedication and resilience are starting to pay off having just brokered their first sponsorship deal with Safestore UK.”

The Centre for Entrepreneurship’s Countdown to Launch scheme runs every June and helps budding entrepreneurs to make their start-up dreams a reality.

Countdown to Launch is now open for applications from Cardiff Met final year students and graduates who are looking to make a business idea a reality. Applications can be made online at www.countdowntolaunch.co.uk
