Cardiff Met sign MoU with the International Association of Universities

11/10/2016

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between Cardiff Met and the International Association of Universities (IAU) for their Internationalisation Strategies Advisory Service (ISAS) (2.0) Comprehensive Internationalisation Badge.

The MOU was signed in Jordan, where Cardiff Met led a joint dissemination event between four EU funded scholarship projects active in the Middle East region: Jordan, Palestine, Lebanon and Syria. The signing was witnessed by the former Deputy Prime Minister of Jordan, Dr Amin Mahmoud; Professor Sultan Abou Orabi, Secretary General of the Association of Arab Universities; Prof. Khaled Alomari former Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research in Jordan and Professor Ahmed El Gohary, President of Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology.

The IAU's badge for achieving comprehensive internationalisation is awarded to universities who can demonstrate that they have achieved high levels of internationalisation across 14 criteria. With the MOU now in place, Cardiff Met will undertake a self-evaluation of its international activities and will be assessed by a panel of IAU experts.

Professor Mohamed Loutfi, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) at Cardiff Met said of the signing, "Cardiff Met is known for its international footprint, and we look forward to the IAU's review. The review will support on-going planning and monitoring as we continually look to develop our international impact, it will also provide an opportunity to highlight the many successes and areas of best practice that the University has developed."
