Profile

My professional English Language teaching career began in 2005, in both public and private sectors.

In 2008, I completed the Cambridge CELTA at Bristol University, followed by a Masters in TESOL in 2012 at the University of Wales, Newport (currently University of South Wales), examining the linguistic properties and gender differences of writing styles between native English speakers and non-native English learners. I joined the ELTC (English Language Training Centre) at Cardiff Metropolitan in 2013, and teach the Pre-Sessional Programme, and the International Foundation course on which I am the module leader for Context Analysis.

In 2016, I delivered the Pre-Sessional Programme at Renmin University, Beijing, China, overseeing teaching, assessment marking, and mentoring.

Other courses I have delivered are In-Sessional Foundation Support, the Cardiff School of Management International Foundation Course, General English to Ukrainian Gymnasts, and in 2022, I designed and delivered a virtual session to Uzbek educators combining teaching and training.

On a wider scale, I collaborate with the MA TESOL course regularly, arranging observations, and delivering teacher training workshops, and conduct International Application Interviews.

In 2021, I became a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I am multilingual and have a particular interest in second language acquisition.

In 2024, I aim to start the process of becoming a CELTA Tutor in Training (TiT).
